How good is fat?
For so long we've been told that fat is bad for us. You were told to stay away from it if you want to stay healthy and keep a great figure. Now how true is that story? Here are some questions and answers from our nutrition experts to help dissolve the myths.
Fat equals calories, isn’t it better to cut spread to prevent obesity?
True, weight gain comes from eating more calories than you use, but the amount of calories delivered by spread is fits in a balanced diet: 30g of Blueband gives approximately 10% of the recommended daily calorie intake. Furthermore, Blueband margarine is a good source of essential vitamins, such as vitamin A, B6, B12, D, E, Folic Acid and Niacin (GoodStart! Vitamins). It is better to reduce your intake of the “hidden fats” e.g. in cookies, crisps and cheese, as these fats do not contain all these essential nutrients.
How good is a bread-based breakfast, nutritionally?
A bread-based breakfast, including two slices of bread with spread as topping and a cup of tea, breaks your fast and gives you a significant contribution to the recommended daily energy intake and vitamin A, B6, B12, D, E, Folic Acid and Niacin. These GoodStart! Vitamins are important for children’s growth and development, they help to achieve and maintain strong bones, healthy skin and good eyesight, and help to keep your reproductive system and nerves and muscles healthy.
Isn't butter more natural and therefore much healthier?
No. Margarine is made of ingredients you know from nature like plant oils from seeds or palm oil fruits. They have the natural power to make a whole new plant or even tree! Blended in a way that it provides you with essential nutrients that you and your family need to develop and grow.
