On Tuesday, September 17, 2024, the Communications and Corporate Affairs Team, in collaboration with Toa House, launched an impactful schools' education program on plastic pollution. The program kicked off with a visit to the Doryumu Methodist Basic and JHS School in the Shai-Osudoku District, where over 300 students gathered to learn about the pressing issue of plastic pollution in Ghana.
The educational initiative emphasized the vital role that students can play in addressing plastic pollution and mitigating its impact on both Ghana and the global environment. Through interactive sessions, the students were divided into four groups, each tasked with brainstorming innovative solutions to reduce plastic waste in their communities. Following the group discussions, students presented their ideas, showcasing their creativity and commitment to environmental sustainability.
To support both the learning and hygiene needs of the students, the Unilever Ghana Team generously provided exercise books, as well as Oral Care and Personal Care products to the pupils.
The event marked a significant step in raising awareness among the younger generation about the plastic crisis and empowering them to become environmental champions in their communities.
