Lifebuoy – Covid 19 response and Handwashing campaign

Lifebouy is working with partners across the country to address infant and maternal mortality rates in priority counties through the global handwashing program that hit a target of reaching 12 million Kenyans in 2020 against a universal target of 1 billion people.

Lifebuoy was also at the forefront of covid 19 mitigation with a donation of 17 million Pieces of Soap through partnership organizations; Action Aid, UNHRC, Amref Kenya, Unicef, PSK, Save the Children, Water Aid and CARE. Lifebuoy Sanitizer was donated into 1 million homes reaching 4.5M Consumers during the Covid Sensitization Drive.

In 2021, the fight against COVID realizing the need for behavior change. During GHD 2021, Lifebuoy localized, adopted and executed the “H for Handwashing” Campaign. This was through school activations reaching over 100,000 Students and In-Home consumer sampling reaching over 700k Consumers.

Pepsodent Oral Hygiene campaign

Realising that dental disease is one of the leading causes of school absenteeism, Pepsodent’s global mission is to change oral care behavior of Kenyans teaching and encouraging them to brush day & night to stay healthy and live a more fulfilled life. In Kenya the program has reached over 6,000,000 children since 2016 to date.

Heroes For Change

Anchored on Unilever’s Sustainable Living Plan and originally incubated under the Unilever East Africa Bright Future Fund, Heroes for Change (H4C) is a social enterprise that works to harness the power of purpose-driven youth/student volunteers to deliver scalable social impact programmes in their communities at low cost leveraging the power of technology and bridge their experience gap whilst at it.

The program works with University students who are trained and empowered to contribute to society and make an impact in creating a better future for all East Africans and has helped deliver the following interventions targeting vulnerable communities:

• Oral Hygiene

• Neonatal mortality through educating pregnant women and new moms
the importance of hand hygiene

• Hand and face washing to school children to prevent diseases like
diarrhoea, trachoma

• Importance of recycling to school children

• COVID-19 prevention targeting vulnerable communities in Kenya.

Since 2017 to date H4C programmes have reached 2,767,729 people through on-ground activations and 6,560,431 through digital while working with 1,028 trained Heroes/students.
